Photo of the Day of Miss Emmi! Children’s Photographer Orange County

Happy Friday everyone! I have spent the last couple of days just amazed at my new little niece…she is awesome! I guess I am a little partial because she is family, but she truly is a great baby and I am enjoying every minute I get to spend with her. Thanks Andy & Jenn for letting Aunt Dana be such a “baby hog”.

Hope you all have a great weekend…and here is the photo of the day which was taken this morning as she got ready for the day.

Meet our Niece Emmi! Orange County Childrens Photographer

Yesterday I met our niece Emmi for the first time, I am so excited to be an aunt. I have been around so many babies over the years, but it is so different when you  hold a new baby that is your family. We are so excited. I am up in Pleasanton visiting my sister-in-law, Andy & Emmi for a few days. Jeff will be joining us tomorrow night, so I am excited for him to meet her too. Today we are keeping it mellow, we took a trip to Target for a couple things and for lunch we ate some great homemade tamales that Andy & Jenn made over the holidays (they both made them…don’t know who worked the hardest, but they were awesome)! Here are a few snapshots I took today of Miss Em, we will be taking more photos over the next couple of days for her birth announcement and such. Stay tuned…J+D (Aunt Dana)

Diane & her boys…a very special session!

A few months ago, my friend Kendall invited me to a reception called Cocktails for the Cure. She and many of her friends were involved in the Second Annual fundraising event and look forward to it again in October 2009. It is a night for the ladies to enjoy cocktails, food & conversation for a good cause and the proceeds go to finding a cure for breast cancer. I wasn’t available to attend because we were scheduled to be out of town, but I was able to donate a portrait session. I thought the proceeds of our sitting would be going to a great cause and we would probably get to photograph some wonderful people in the process. Little did I know this experience would turn into something so much more.

A few weeks ago Diane called me to schedule her sitting, and said that her neighbor Jasvina gave it to her as a Christmas gift because she wanted her family to get a family portrait together. I proceeded to chat with Diane about taking the photos of her with her two boys and it was scheduled. As we concluded our phone conversation, Diane had mentioned she was so very grateful that we were taking the photos, she mentioned how much the photos meant to her because she was terminally ill. I was a bit surprised. I just wasn’t expecting that! Diane had said that both her and Jasvina made donations for the sitting because they both thought it was so important that Diane have some photos with her two sons. When I hung up the phone with Diane, I was a bit awe struck at how important my love of photography had just become. I have photographed many people in my career, but never under these circumstances. I thought this is going to be a little hard!

On January 2nd, we met up at Soka University in Aliso Viejo to do the session. Diane & her boys were very nice, as we proceeded to walk to our first location we talked about the Rose Bowl game because they had attended it the day before, they were excited USC won (I was sad Penn State lost, but ya win some and lose some) and Diane said it was a great experience. She asked me if I could help her put her earring in, she has a hard time grabbing things with her “Chemo Hands”. I smiled at her and helped, and thought to myself this woman is so full of life, it was hard to believe that she was sick. My goal with this shoot and every session that we do is for our clients to just have FUN! The family joked as they walked and talked a bit, I told them just relax and be you…have fun!  Diane thanked me for the interaction when we were done, she really enjoyed herself and the moments with her boys.

A few days later I met up with Diane with the photos, we laid them out on the table and she picked some favorites. Here are some of them!

I took this photo of Diane, as we looked at it together she mentioned it would be a great one to have enlarged at her funeral. Yes, I felt some sadness at that moment, but so honored to have photographed her. This whole experience made me feel so amazing. I loved talking to Diane, she had so many stories and so many wonderful people in her life to talk about. I expressed to her my passion for photography and how I loved doing what I do. As I headed home that day, there was a beautiful sunset. I thought… life is too short not to do what you love to do, so I must keep on. Photography truly is a gift to me, I get to make impressions in peoples lives at so many moments in their lives, sometimes even when they are dying. Thank you Diane, for sharing your life with us!

If you would like to participate in the Cocktails for the Cure event specifically, you can contact Kendall at kendallcreative@cox.net or by calling her at 949.842.4872. If you are just interested in donating to the cause please go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Audri & Alyssa…just because!

Happy Monday to all my peeps! I know a lot of you are probably back to work after all our holiday breaks…Holidays? Where did those go? Back to the swing of things and growing this photo business! I love sharing with you all the wonderful people we get to meet. Here is Audri & her daughter Alyssa, who is just the cutest thing. I am completely amazed by these pics…and I took them. Just to watch the chemistry between people, but to capture it as well is just a gift. That is how I feel, I have a gift to bring out the emotion in others and freeze it in time. Since time passes so quickly, this is a valuable gift.  Later we can open the freezer of memories and just look back, and remember!

Here are these two fabulous gals…Enjoy! BTW…don’t forget to leave us some love and comment at the end!  J+D

Favorites of 2008…looking forward to 2009!

Happy New Year!!! Hope everyone brought in 2009 with a smile on there face and a kiss on the cheek. New Year’s Eve rocked for the Sipper-Aguiar families as we welcomed our new niece into the world at 6:48pm. Emmi Victoria Aguiar was born 5.1 pounds, 18 1/2 inches. Congratulations to Andy & Jenn on becoming parents to a beautiful little girl and to Jeff’s parents on there 1st grandchild!

Jeff & I partied in up in New Orleans last year when we welcomed in 2008, but the first part of the year had its ups and downs. We seriously considered moving out of state and making a fresh start, but as the housing market took a plunge we decided it wasn’t the best time to sell our condo. So, it was time to just make a change here and with that came new friends, a thriving photo business & a new family member.

We are so looking forward to 2009, yes the economy is struggling, but what we do makes a difference! We share moments in peoples lives that are important, the dollar can be worth whatever we want it to be. When the gift of family, new life and sometimes even death are cherished, there is no dollar amount that can replace that! That is why Jeff & I do what we do because it just means something!

Our goal this year is to really grow Sipper Photography, we want to make more friends, more memories and just have fun! Our motto is Simple+Modern+Casual…we want our clients to just be themselves, have fun and we will do the rest. Once we decided who we wanted to be as a photography couple things just flourished. Jeff & I absolutely adore each other…we are easy-going people who just love each other and I firmly believe that comes out in our sessions.

We would love to work with many more fabulous people in 2009, so if you know anyone who is engaged, getting married, has a new baby, families or just because…we want you in front of our camera!

Today, we wish all of you a Happy & Prosperous New Year! Here we will share with you some of our favorites from 2008 and look forward to many more in the next year.

Much love & happiness,

J+D

Weekly Wednesday- New Year’s Eve Edition!

With 2009 fast approaching, I am starting to reflect on the last year and what I want to accomplish in the New Year. Time is just flying by so quickly and there is little time to waste. Jeff & I are very blessed to have each other. We have many friends & family who we absolutely adore. We spent last week with both of our families over Christmas and each year we just love them more.

On Monday, Jeff celebrated his 34th birthday! Hubby received many birthday wishes on Facebook, he really didn’t think he was that popular, but happiness just kept rolling in. We went to dinner at the Clubhouse Restaurant in Costa Mesa. In the spirit of our trip last year to New Orleans for his birthday he ordered Jambalaya. We didn’t have the same company as last year when Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Shiloh sat at the table right behind us at a Irene’s Italian Restaurant in the French Quarter. That was a night to remember! The food was great though and the wine we brought was even better.

Here are a few photos from our birthday date…

Awesome wine we had with dinner…check them out at Silver Horse Winery

We are excited today for the birth of Emmi Victoria Aguiar…my sister-in-law is at the hospital now as we blog. She is supposed to come today per Jenn’s doctors, so we wait. As soon as we hear something we will let all of you know!

Well, we wish all of you a Happy & Safe New Year’s Eve and come back tomorrow because we will be blogging our Top 10 photos we took this year!

Weekly Wednesday- Mini Holiday Sessions at Irvine Park!

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Well, the holiday cards are rolling in and several have had photos that were taken by us. It is so exciting to open them up and see what everyone is up to, this year it is even better because there is our work.

Recently, our friend Amanda approached us about doing a Mini Session Day and she would invite some friends from her kids school & her church. Her family blog was up last Wednesday, with the entire Young Family…we just love all of them!

So, this holiday season, set at Irvine Park we found some really nice families. Her are a few from each session that are my favorites. We wish all of these families a very Happy Holiday!

Thank you to all of you…the Fleming, Kridle & Herner Families and Amanda for introducing all of us!

The Spann Kids…Will & Nolan

Well we had a busy weekend filled with friends & holiday cheer. Yesterday we had another great session and so we continue to work with so many awesome people and are so blessed to have them come into our lives. Recently, we visited an awesome family… Brandon & Steph live in San Diego and we took photos of their two little boys, Will & Nolan. They are a crack up! When we got there the two were very anxious to show me their rooms, toys & the fish tank (I noticed all the fish & how clear the tank was). Then we went out and played in the backyard and took the photos. Nolan was very “2”, all over the place, I had to be quick, but I was able to catch that gleem in his eyes.

Afterwards, we had some dinner with the family, there was a brief moment where the boys were back in their bedrooms. Later, Nolan came out and Steph noticed some flaky stuff on his face. “What is that”? she exclaimed. So, she dusted it off, then realized what it may be. As she took off to the room where the fish tank was, she noticed that is was dinner time for them as well. Somehow Nolan got the fish food and proceeded to dump the remainder of the bottle in the tank. Will, the older of the two boys said he didn’t know how Nolan got the food from up on a shelf he couldn’t reach…wink wink! Ya gotta love moments like this. Kids will be kids and Brandon will have to spend his Sunday cleaning the fish tank!

Thanks to the Spann Family for photos, food & entertainment! You guys were great!

A Busy Neighborhood!

Happy Friday Kids! We have had a very eventful week in our neighborhood. Starting with a new baby boy, our neighbors & friends gave birth to their son Liam Isaiah Brunell born Sunday, December 7, 2008. Liam came home on Tuesday and I happen to be outside when they brought him in, so of course I had to wash my hands and go hold the new baby. I am everyone’s favorite Aunt Dana…and I admit I am a baby hog, so I held Liam for about 2 hours. I already warned Liam that Aunt Dana will be torturing him in the years to come taking his photos. Congratulations to Jesse & Carol these are for you…a few pictures I snapped of Liam yesterday, only 4 days old.

It is tough being a baby…best wishes to the Brunell’s!

The other big news in the neighborhood is that Franjo & Kylee announced their engagement on Wednesday night. They celebrated their 4th Anniversary together as a couple. After dinner I received a text from Kylee “I’m Engaged”, so the two stopped by afterwards because my reply was “I want to see that ring finger”! Every girl gets so excited about the ring. So, they stopped by and we cracked open a bottle of champagne to toast. We are so happy for them. Here is the happy couple and that ring finger!!!

A little toast by our Christmas tree…congrats to you both!

Weekly Wednesday- A Family Edition!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

This is such a busy time of year for everyone with the hustle & bustle of Christmas right around the corner. We need to take the time to stop and be thankful for the goodness in our lives and not get all caught up in the gifts & sales. Let’s remember to stop and take a moment to drop an email, or make a phone call to someone you love and thank them for being in your life.

We have many people to be thankful for. I am particularly thankful for such an amazing husband, who I absolutely adore and love sharing our passion for photography with. Our families who loves & support us each step of the way, in good times & struggling times. We almost have a new family member here, my sister-in-law Jennifer is pregnant and we are eagerly waiting the arrival of Emmi Victoria in the next few weeks to grace the Sipper Family with her presence. We also have some great friends who consistently show there support. Some live further away, and we miss them dearly, others live right across the way and we are happy to have all of them in our lives. We want to send out a particular wish to Carol & Jesse, our friends & neighbors who brought Liam Isaiah Brunnel into the world this past Sunday, 12/7/08…congratulations guys! I will try to get a photo in the next couple of days to share with all of you.

Please try to spend some time with your family & friends during this busy season and thank them for being a part of your lives. We were lucky enough to spend time with this fabulous family, The Young’s! Here we got together a session of everyone! This is why I love my job because we get to share these family moments with people. Jeff & I had the honor of shooting Amy & Chris’ wedding this past January and now we have become apart of the whole family.

We share with you this great family…enjoy!
