Keira’s One year birthday portrait! | Orange County Family Photography

Happy weekend to all of you!  This evening I want to share with you Miss Keira’s first birthday portrait session.  We met this family about 6 months ago when we photographed them for Keira’s 6 month portrait.  I was so excited to see how much Keira had changed, she had grown so much and is now becoming her own little person.  Matt, Kristel and Keira are such a wonderful family and I can’t wait to continue watching Keira grow.  Kids change so quickly in their first year and grow up so fast.  With these precious photos, she will stay your little girl forever.  Thanks so much to Matt and Kristel for sharing your daughters one year celebration with us.  J+D

I like to call this one the many faces of Keira…so cute!

What a gorgeous family!

Orange County Wedding Photographer | Franjo+Kylee=Married |

This wedding is near and dear to our hearts as our good friends Franjo and Kylee say, “I do”. We met this fabulous couple a few years back when they used to be our neighbors. I guess you could say our dogs brought us together as we decided to have dinner and cocktails during a stroll out to the lawn to walk them. Since then the two have been the ying to our yang. We have shared many laughs, a few tears, and even a few trips to Vegas.  These two are such a fun loving couple and we all get along famously.

Last year we were thrilled when we received a phone call from them at Ruth Chris Steakhouse saying they were officially engaged!  They were celebrating their 4th year together as a couple when Franjo popped the question and Kylee said “YES!”  We were so excited for the two and couldn’t wait to share this special day with them.  It gets even better, because not only would we be there to witness their union as friends in the audience but we would get to document this love through our camera lens. It was such an amazing day for all of us.

Kylee was an absolutely stunning bride! She is a hair stylist and make-up artist, so looking perfect on her day was a must!  She collaborated with Fran, a friend and fellow stylist at The W Salon to do her hair and it came out perfectly.  Her friend, Stacey, did all of the girls’ make-up for the day, including my eyes.  She did a fabulous job!  These girls know how to make you gorgeous, I love them all.

Our bride and groom decided to see each other before the wedding so we could take advantage of the daylight for photo ops. We came up with an awesome plan for the two to have their first look  by the tracks at the Fullerton Train Depot.  What a way to start your celebration.  The two were so happy to see each other, as it was a tear jerker for all.  I had to wipe my eyes a few times as we shot this amazing moment.

Filled with fall colors, love and fun we give you Franjo and Kylee. Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness.  Thank you so much for this wonderful honor of documenting such a beautiful love! Congratulations again, we love ya!

J+D.

The first dance… I absolutely cried.  A song Jeff and I both love,  Ben Fold’s singing “The Luckiest”. We always said if we got married again this would be our song.

Montage Laguna Beach Resort Wedding | Brian+Mandy=Married

Recently we shot this intimate wedding of Brian and Mandy at the Montage Resort in Laguna Beach.  We were so excited to share their day with them at this gorgeous location!  Our bride, Mandy, is from England. From the moment I spoke with her on the phone, I was drawn to her English accent and the excitement in her voice. Shortly after, we met Brian and Mandy and instantly clicked with them.  As they sat across from us in our first meeting, Mandy told us all about how she came to America and settled in a place in Laguna Niguel.  She used to visit the Montage Park and beach area just to walk around or sit and thought what a great place this would be to get married. Later she met Brian and that dream wedding on the lawn at the Montage had become a reality.

Many of you may know that the Montage Resort sits on the property in Laguna Beach that used be a luxury mobile home park.  My family visited there for many summers as I grew up and it was always a special spot for us.  When we were approached to do this wedding for Brian and Mandy it made me realize that life really does come full circle. You find yourself in a place at one moment in time and somehow you make your way back there without even trying.  As a child, I played on that beach and now I have gone back as a grown woman with the man I love and a profession that we are truly passionate about.  Both Mandy and I had come full circle, life is amazing and here we have some fabulous moments of this wonderful couple on their special day. Congratulations to Brian and Mandy, we thank you for sharing this gorgeous day with us. All the best to you both! J+D

The two shared their vows on the lawn just outside the Studio Restaurant and had a fabulous dinner reception to follow there as well.

After the I-do’s we went down to the beach before the sun set where we took a few casual shots of the wedding party. The two then took a little romantic time to just walk and be a couple, we enjoyed their moments immensely.

I loved the girls Tiffany blue dresses!

Orange County Theater Engagement Session | Kelli-Rae+Dan=Engaged

Today, we share with you the beautiful love story of Kelli-Rae and Dan. I have known Kelli-Rae for a little over two years now, we used to work together. A few of us ladies got together from the old workplace for lunch a few months back so we could catch up on all that had been going on in our lives since we last saw each other. We had seen on Facebook that Kelli-Rae was engaged but finally got to get all of the details and see her fabulous ring in person. She told us the story of how the two made a little escape to the Embassy Suites for the night and as they arrived and took a moment on the balcony with some champagne, he gave her a letter that read:

“This is the day I ask you to be my wife” she looked down and he was on one knee and asked her “Will you marry me”. After 5 years of dating she said “YES”!

I was so happy when Kelli-Rae asked us to do her engagement session photos, they wanted to do something different and creative. I know Dan is a writer, he recently had a premiere for his horror film Farmhouse and Kelli-Rae loves theater and music. Since I have known her she has been in a few productions and also had the opportunity to get on stage and sing with the band Sugarland! We have had the opportunity to sing together as well, there has been a time or two of Karaoke together for office parties, good times. That is what she wanted the session to be all about, good times and so we decided on doing their session in a local Theater. It was something that represented both of them, they have a total love for movies, and that is one of the things they love doing together. She wanted them to just have fun, throw popcorn at each other and be in the moment. We ended up shooting in Garden Grove at the The Gem Theater where Kelli-Rae recently performed in the production “The Best Little Whore House in Texas”.

We had an awesome session in the theater and also walked around the house and downtown Garden Grove…as we documented the excitement and love of the two’s engagement. They were a fun couple, full of love, laughter and moments and so we share with you Kelli-Rae and Dan…we had an amazing time documenting your engagement and love, thanks for sharing with us. Congrats to you both! J+D

Brian+Lisa+Tommy+Lauren=Family | Urban Family Portrait

Here is one of our favorite families, back this year again to do portraits for their holiday card. We just love to visit with our past clients, it is great to see the kids another year older and how they have changed. Tommy is now in Kindergarten and Lauren has grown out of her shyness a bit. We had a great session filled with many laughs and I just loved Lisa and Lauren’s matching sweater dresses and boots. Those girls looked “Fab”!

Here you have it, some great moments with Brian, Lisa, Tommy and Lauren! Enjoy, J+D

Corey+Julie+Caleb=Family, Orange County Family Photography

We are in full swing for the holiday portrait season and we have had some wonderful families so far. Julie contacted me from the Bay Area wanting to do a family session on their next visit to San Diego. Her mom and dad live near Point Loma, in the beautiful San Diego area. We decided on the Point Loma Lighthouse area as the backdrop for their session. It was such an awesome location for their family to share a few moments because it was a place they hung out as a family when her and her siblings were still at home.

Thank you Julie, for sharing your family with us and getting everyone together. It was a beautiful day for some spectacular images filled with fun, love and fabulous moments. J+D

Big Announcement to share!

Today was a big day for Sipper Photography and I wanted to share it with all of you. Recently, I have been asked to be the featured blogger for the Orange County Weddings page which is a service by The Knot. My first post went live today for all to see and I hope you will stop by and check it out. This is a great opportunity for Sipper Photography, but also for me as an individual. As most of you know, I am a very creative person and blogging has been another way for me to feel inspired. During my teenage years, I used to love to write poetry but as I got busy with life that passion fell by the wayside. With our work for Sipper Photography, it has come alive again and I am so excited for this fabulous opportunity.  This will be a great service for our brides-to-be planning a wedding in Orange County, as it will help them plan their wedding.

On your wedding day, it is all about “you”  and the details of your celebration. If you are planning a wedding, I hope you will stop by for some ideas or even just a little inspiration. Thanks! J+D

New Orleans Street Portraits | Orange County photographer

Happy Monday to everyone!  Just wanted to drop in, and show off a few pics I shot when Dana and I were on vacation a couple weeks ago.  This being my fifth trip to New Orleans, I’ve seen most everything.  Over the past 10 years, the main things that keep bringing me back are the amazing food, the great music, and incredible people watching.  In and around the French Quarter, there are dozens of musicians at any given time, playing in the street and drawing crowds.  It’s always a ton of fun, and always makes for fun photos!  Hope ya like them!

Woman in Jackson Square watching the Jazz Band playing

The Jazz Band in Jackson Square- I’ve been photographing these guys since my first trip 10 years ago.  The lineup always changes a bit, but the trombone player/singer has always been the same!

This guy was just jammin’ on the clarinet!  I also thought he was going to beat down a guy across the street that set up a drum kit, and was trying to drown him out!

Not really a portrait, but I saw this guy a few times over the course of a couple days, and really dug his Tall Bike.  I just happened to have my camera out and at the ready to finally snap off a few frames!
