Orange County Theater Engagement Session | Kelli-Rae+Dan=Engaged

Today, we share with you the beautiful love story of Kelli-Rae and Dan. I have known Kelli-Rae for a little over two years now, we used to work together. A few of us ladies got together from the old workplace for lunch a few months back so we could catch up on all that had been going on in our lives since we last saw each other. We had seen on Facebook that Kelli-Rae was engaged but finally got to get all of the details and see her fabulous ring in person. She told us the story of how the two made a little escape to the Embassy Suites for the night and as they arrived and took a moment on the balcony with some champagne, he gave her a letter that read:

“This is the day I ask you to be my wife” she looked down and he was on one knee and asked her “Will you marry me”. After 5 years of dating she said “YES”!

I was so happy when Kelli-Rae asked us to do her engagement session photos, they wanted to do something different and creative. I know Dan is a writer, he recently had a premiere for his horror film Farmhouse and Kelli-Rae loves theater and music. Since I have known her she has been in a few productions and also had the opportunity to get on stage and sing with the band Sugarland! We have had the opportunity to sing together as well, there has been a time or two of Karaoke together for office parties, good times. That is what she wanted the session to be all about, good times and so we decided on doing their session in a local Theater. It was something that represented both of them, they have a total love for movies, and that is one of the things they love doing together. She wanted them to just have fun, throw popcorn at each other and be in the moment. We ended up shooting in Garden Grove at the The Gem Theater where Kelli-Rae recently performed in the production “The Best Little Whore House in Texas”.

We had an awesome session in the theater and also walked around the house and downtown Garden Grove…as we documented the excitement and love of the two’s engagement. They were a fun couple, full of love, laughter and moments and so we share with you Kelli-Rae and Dan…we had an amazing time documenting your engagement and love, thanks for sharing with us. Congrats to you both! J+D

Big Announcement to share!

Today was a big day for Sipper Photography and I wanted to share it with all of you. Recently, I have been asked to be the featured blogger for the Orange County Weddings page which is a service by The Knot. My first post went live today for all to see and I hope you will stop by and check it out. This is a great opportunity for Sipper Photography, but also for me as an individual. As most of you know, I am a very creative person and blogging has been another way for me to feel inspired. During my teenage years, I used to love to write poetry but as I got busy with life that passion fell by the wayside. With our work for Sipper Photography, it has come alive again and I am so excited for this fabulous opportunity.  This will be a great service for our brides-to-be planning a wedding in Orange County, as it will help them plan their wedding.

On your wedding day, it is all about “you”  and the details of your celebration. If you are planning a wedding, I hope you will stop by for some ideas or even just a little inspiration. Thanks! J+D

Hyland Ski Resort, Minneapolis Wedding | Tony + Annie=Married

Today we share with you the fabulous wedding of Tony + Annie. As some of you may know, we recently traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota for this wonderful wedding. A few months ago, we spoke with David Esquire of Esquire Photography about his brother’s upcoming wedding. Oh what to do when you are a wedding photographer, and have a wedding to be in. David was asked to be his brother Tony’s Best Man, and rightfully so, the two are inseparable and so much fun to be around. As a fellow photographer, I can understand that you always want the best when it comes time for your own family to be photographed. It is sometimes hard to give up the role of what you know best, and let someone take the reigns. After a few phone conversations we hit it off with the two and were asked to take those reigns.  Jeff and I were honored and so we headed out to Minnesota to meet this beautiful couple and share their day with them and their family.

Tony and Annie are a spectacular couple! The two met about 5 years ago in Chicago where on their first date they walked the streets of Chicago until 5am just talking, laughing and getting to know one another.  They got engaged one winter in the snow after playing frisbee.  Both of them love the outdoors, especially snowboarding! This love led them to the idea of having their wedding reception at the Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area in Bloomington, MN. These two genuinely enjoy spending time together and really wanted the day to be about their love and the things they love. They expressed how they wanted to be caught up in the moments and their love for the day. We enjoyed our time with them immensely as we were able to capture many beautiful moments. Speaking, of things they love, Tony is very involved with the Subaru Club in Minnesota and so we did some fun shots with his car. This was about them and all of these photos show the fun, love and moments of Tony and Annie’s wedding day.

We truly wish them the best in their new life together and want to thank them for having us visit Minnesota and shoot their wedding. It was so great to be a part of their lives on such an important day and be able to share all of these happy moments with them. We truly love what we do!

A great big “Thank You” to David and his wife Katherine for sharing your family with us, we are honored and will never forget it. Much love and happiness to all of you!

And so we give you the newly married couple…Tony + Annie! Enjoy the moments, J+D

Newport Harbor Yacht Club Wedding | Michelle+Bob = Married

A few weeks ago, we get a call from Brian Hamilton of Suite M Studios.  He was looking for a photographer to help out with a beautiful dockside wedding at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.  Of course, we could help out!  I mean, really, how could we not?  Brian is a great guy, the weather was amazing, and the lovely couple got married right next to the beautiful Newport Harbor.

While Brian hung out with the ladies, I got to hang out with the guys, and photograph them getting ready.  Mostly hanging out, cracking jokes, and having a few cocktails.  When the time was just right, Bob and his best man (his father) walked out to the dock as the gorgeous bride and her girls came across the harbor on a boat. How can you beat that?

Beautiful details everywhere, from the menu to each table being named after a cocktail to the AMAZING cake!

The guys, having a celebratory shot of Tequila!

Can you really beat this entrance?

Each member of the bridal party was greeted by the Best man, and then escorted up to get ready to walk down the aisle. Just check out his suit!  Seersucker jacket, and white patent leather topsiders.  How sweet is that look?

Mr. and Mrs. Bendetti!
Right as they were announced as husband and wife, they shot off a cannon!  Neither Brian or I were expecting it, so we both jumped a bit!

While, the guests enjoyed some Mai Tais, and appetizers, Michelle and Bob headed down to the boat for some fun, relaxed, romantic portraits!

Fun, relaxed, portraits ON A BOAT!

I love this shot.  A beautiful couple, an amazing location, and love everywhere!

J+D Bridal Portrait Style- Part II Orange County Wedding Photography

Happy Wednesday Everyone! What is new in your world? Anything  fun or exciting? We are excited about our upcoming destination wedding to Minnesota. Our friend David Equire, also co-host of Camera Dojo recommended us to a fabulous couple Tony+Annie who will be getting married in September. They are having their reception at the Chalet of a local Ski Resort, it sounds so cool. We can’t wait to share this special day with the two of them, they are such a fun-loving couple! Congratulations to you both…and we will see you in September!

Last week we did 3 shoots for Broughton Quarterly, this is our 3rd issue in which Sipper Photography has contributed. We just love working with the Broughton’s everyone is always so nice and their hotels are stunning. If anyone is looking to take a trip this summer, check out the Broughton properties, they have several boutique hotels all over California, Chicago, and Bali Indonesia (would love to shoot there). We have visited the The Andres in Palm Springs, The Wine Valley Inn in Solvang and The Georgian Hotel up in Santa Monica, and we highly recommend all of them for your next getaway.

If you need a little getaway each day, here is one for you! Jeff was invited to participate in a fun new blog called OC Daily Photo. He will be submitting a photo each week that will post on Saturday’s. The idea behind it is to just show interesting things that go on in Orange County, CA and share it with everyone. There are some fun images on the site, so check it out when you get a chance!

So, things have been a little busy as usual, but we have made time for a few glasses (or bottles) of wine in the mix of things because you must keep your priorities in check! Right?

Well, we finally got our Bridal Portrait video up for all of you too! Our recent shoot with Lori, Kylee & Richelle was such a success that we just had too many favorites. We decided to make up a slideshow of some of the other images, it even shows Hair by Kylee at work doing some make-up. We also found some awesome music to go with it too! Our close friend in Nasville, Jayne Nelsen was so kind to let us a use a song from her album “No Regrets”. You must check out her music and see what she is up to at JayneNelsen.com. I know she is about to go out on another radio tour this month to promote her album and we wish her lots of luck! Be sure to request her single “What it Really Is” at your local country music station if you like what you hear. We wish her much success with her career, she truly is a talented artist.

I feel so honored to be present with this cast of very talented women. Thank you so much to all of you!

J+D Bridal Portrait Style- Part I Orange County Wedding Photography

Today we wanted to share something very creative and a little different. We have been wanting to get into doing some sessions after the wedding, a chance for our brides to put their dress back on and do a relaxed session with a little glamor and lots of fun.  For this session…maybe the hair is a little more free, and we get into an awesome location that is non-traditional and just have FUN.

Over the past few weeks my session idea came to life. I came across a gorgeous wedding gown and thought… this needs to be photographed! So, I began to put the pieces together with a lovely model, hair + make-up, a bridal bouquet and a fabulous location. This would be a chance for some great creatives to get together and showcase their talents.

My friend Lori, is absolutely stunning, so I approached her about wearing the gown and she was all in…she said she would love to play dress-up!

The hair and make-up was an obvious choice because my good friend Kylee House is a professional stylist at The W Salon in Laguna Hills, you can check her out at Hair by Kylee on Facebook, make sure you become a fan. She has done hair + make-up for some of my clients before and does an AMAZING job…she has even made me look fabulous when we needed photos for our website. If you are in need of a stylist, please contact her at 949.433.1279…you will absolutely love what she does!

All that was left were the flowers, and so it happened that a mutual friend recently introduced me to Richelle at The Flower Girl in Dana Point, CA. So, I contacted Richelle to see if she was interested in donating a bouquet to my “creative cause”, and it would give her the opportunity to showcase her fabulous floral design. Just like that…all the girls were in! I explained to both Kylee and Richelle, what I envisioned in the shoot…which was something simple, but elegant with warm tones. Both ladies, who are very talented ran with it and everything came out exactly how I wanted.

When I picked up the bouquet at the shop, her assistant Megan brought it out and I was amazed at how it turned out. Richelle and her team took my vision and created a gorgeous bouquet of fall colored roses, with a few simple fillers and wrapped it with chocolate ribbon. As I looked around the shop, each arrangement had its own unique beauty, which would make any occasion absolutely perfect! I would highly recommend there floral design for your next occasion.

And now what you have all been waiting for…as all of these creative personalities come together we have this stunning group of images. There were so many to choose from, but these were our absolute favorites. Stay tuned later this week for Part II of this blog post as we put together a slide show of some of the other images. A special thanks to Lori, Kylee & Richelle for making our creative endeavor a success! J+D

A stunning model…thank you so much Lori!

Favorites of 2008…looking forward to 2009!

Happy New Year!!! Hope everyone brought in 2009 with a smile on there face and a kiss on the cheek. New Year’s Eve rocked for the Sipper-Aguiar families as we welcomed our new niece into the world at 6:48pm. Emmi Victoria Aguiar was born 5.1 pounds, 18 1/2 inches. Congratulations to Andy & Jenn on becoming parents to a beautiful little girl and to Jeff’s parents on there 1st grandchild!

Jeff & I partied in up in New Orleans last year when we welcomed in 2008, but the first part of the year had its ups and downs. We seriously considered moving out of state and making a fresh start, but as the housing market took a plunge we decided it wasn’t the best time to sell our condo. So, it was time to just make a change here and with that came new friends, a thriving photo business & a new family member.

We are so looking forward to 2009, yes the economy is struggling, but what we do makes a difference! We share moments in peoples lives that are important, the dollar can be worth whatever we want it to be. When the gift of family, new life and sometimes even death are cherished, there is no dollar amount that can replace that! That is why Jeff & I do what we do because it just means something!

Our goal this year is to really grow Sipper Photography, we want to make more friends, more memories and just have fun! Our motto is Simple+Modern+Casual…we want our clients to just be themselves, have fun and we will do the rest. Once we decided who we wanted to be as a photography couple things just flourished. Jeff & I absolutely adore each other…we are easy-going people who just love each other and I firmly believe that comes out in our sessions.

We would love to work with many more fabulous people in 2009, so if you know anyone who is engaged, getting married, has a new baby, families or just because…we want you in front of our camera!

Today, we wish all of you a Happy & Prosperous New Year! Here we will share with you some of our favorites from 2008 and look forward to many more in the next year.

Much love & happiness,

J+D

We were able to shoot a majority of our formal photo’s outside, it was a surprise to all. There is a little bit of everything from getting ready, to the ceremony & reception…the best of them would be taken at The Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, CA.

We are so happy for Amy & Chris, they were a great couple to work with! Enjoy the view…
