The End of Summer…

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post up a quick picture that I shot yesterday while Dana was working hard taking family pictures.  Yep, that’s how I roll.  Put Dana to work, and I can walk around, and take pretty pictures on the beach.  Anyways, here ya go.  It’s Labor Day weekend, and the “official” end of summer.  Well, at least in most of the country.  Here in SoCal, we probably have another 4-6 weeks of warm to hot weather.  But I think this one captures the feeling at the end of Summer.

Enjoy

Weekly Wednesday Post-Palm Springs Edition…

Hola Amigos!

Yet another Wednesday is upon us, so that brings you another exciting Weekly Wednesday post from us.

Things have been going good for us in the past week.  Super busy, which is ALWAYS a good thing.  Dana and I, once again, hit the road.  This time it was out to Palm Springs for a couple small photoshoots for Broughton Quarterly.  One was a portrait of Tim Esser, who started, and runs the Tour de Palm Springs, and the other was a product type shot of a drink at Bing Crosby’s restaurant.

Neither one of us had ever been to Palm Springs before, and it was a lot of fun.  Dana won $100 playing slots at a casino across from our hotel, we had some good food, I got an invite to ride in the Tour de Palm Springs ride next February, and we both had some incredibly good food and drinks (and a few more drinks) at Bing Crosby’s.  I think we’ll need to head back there once the weather cools down, and really take more pics around the downtown area.  It had a real, late 50’s, early 60’s kinda feel, but it was 108 degrees out there, and not much fun for walking around with a camera!  We mostly kicked back at the pool.

So the Olympics are over.  I think I’ve watched more of the Olympics this time around that I ever have previously.  I’m not sure if it was Phelp’s Phever, or the lack of anything else on, or what, but I was glued!  Now the DNC has been on, and the RNC starts up next week, plus the new TV season, and baseball playoffs just around the corner… gotta love this time of year!

Labor Day weekend coming up.  No huge plans.  I think we have two shoots on Sunday, then probably some relaxing.  Maybe a bike ride or two if the weather doesn’t get too hot.

Well, here are a few pics from last weekend… Just some fun shots, one of Dana, one of the fabulous hotel we stayed at, and one take right outside our room there.

Enjoy!  Drop us some comments, and let us know what ya think!

Happy 7th Anniversary!

So, as of this very minute, Dana and I have been married exactly 7 years!  Happy Anniversary Baby! 🙂

Here we are on out 4th anniversary, bottling port at the great Silver Horse Winery in Paso Robles.  We actually went there to taste some wine on a recommendation from a friend.  The winemaker was out there, and informed us he was out of wine, but if we came back the next day, we could help him bottle port!  How cool is that?

So that is exactly what we did.  The funny thing is, for the next three years, we carried that bottle of port around with us on every anniversary with every intention on drinking it, but, for whatever reason, it just never happened!

Well, this past weekend, we were out in Palm Springs, on a work/getaway weekend that included a couple portraits, a few free drinks, and that bottle of port.  And I gotta say, it was pretty good.  Not just the port, but the time to be able to spend with my wife just relaxing, and having more crazy adventures like we always seem to get into!

I love you Dana! Thanks for a wonderful 7 years, and the best times of my life! 🙂

Jeff

Sean, Jessie & Foster Orange County Family Photography

Hello to all…

Just wanted to share with you a new portrait session we had with Sean, Jessica & Foster this past Sunday. I shot these over the course of 1 1/2 hours at various park locations in Ladera Ranch, CA. We all took our turn chasing Foster around, he is about 16 months old, so his little feet go wherever they take him. Sean, Jessie & I had quite the workout when all was said and done. It felt like all we did was chase Foster around, but the images show all the brief moments I could catch of a toddler on the go.

Thanks again to Sean & Jessica for all your patience and sweat through the shoot, but I would have to say it was worth it. Let us know what you think by leaving us a comment.

Weekly Wednesday Blog-Now with the Kung Fu grip!

Hey Kids!

In the midst of another excitingly busy week here.  Between day jobs, and some great portrait sittings we’ve done lately, its been a lot of late nights, and early coffee filled mornings.  This weekend looks to be a lot of fun though.  We will be traveling out to Palm Springs on a mini work/vacation.  Of course it should be a lot of fun, and we have a portrait session set up, along with a few shots in a restaurant all for a travel/hospitality magazine.  We’ll post more details next week 🙂

Is anyone else enjoying this summer weather as much as I have?  I may be jinxing it here by saying so, but I don’t think it has gotten above 85 for most of the summer.  I wear shorts and sandals to work everyday, and it’s even been a slight bit chilly when I first walk out the door.

Any Ukulele players out there?  I’m thinking of checking out the Cerritos Ukulele Festival in October, and was wondering if it was any good?  Seems to be a decent price, like $19 for all day festivities, including workshops.  I picked up my Uke about a year ago when Dana and I were in Maui for our anniversary.  The Hotel we stayed at offered free lessons, and I was the only one that turned up.  Instantly hooked.  I’ve played guitar, very badly, for about 14 years now, and the Ukelele is about 1000 times easier, but I’m still lacking decent technique.  I’m certainly no Jake Shimabukaro!

Hope everyone is having a great week!  We’ve gotten a lot of response to our weekly Blogs, and we thank you for it!  Remember to add yourself to our Facebook page.  We may be running some Facebook only specials in the near future, and you definitely don’t wanna miss out on those!

And here is the picture of the week.  While Dana was hard at work doing a portrait session in Seal Beach, I was screwing around taking detail shots of the area.  I particularly like this one!

Enjoy!

Weekly Wednesday Blog!

Hey kids!

First off, I wanna thank everyone who has been dropping by and leaving comments on the blog lately.  I know we don’t always write back, but believe me, we appreciate it!  We’ve been pretty busy lately, as you can tell by the pics we’ve been posting.  We have a few more sittings scheduled in the next couple weeks, so be on the lookout for more pictures posted!

Anyone else watching the Olympics?  I never really think I’m going to get into them, but this time around, I seem to be watching every night!  Looks like Michael Phelps broke the all-time record last night, and the way he’s been swimming, he might just take Mark Spitz’s record from him too.  That guy is amazing!

Been too busy to see any movies lately.  Still haven’t seen Dark Knight, yet.  We are probably the last two people left who haven’t seen it.  Tropic Thunder opens today, and looks great.  Might have to try and squeeze that in this weekend.

How many of you are on Twitter or Facebook?  You can follow us on both sites, and get an idea as to what we are up to every day.  We’ve been on Twitter for a few months now, and have really noticed a huge bump in traffic, and it’s a great way to meet new people!  Here are the links- Jeff’s Twitter, Dana’s Twitter and Our Facebook page!

Are you, or someone you know getting married next year?  We are currently booking dates for 2009!  So, drop us a line, and we can discuss all of your wedding photo needs!

That’s about all I’ve got for a Wednesday.  Just busy, busy, busy!  Take care, and keep checking back for new work!

Weekly Wednesday-ahhh yeah, you know what time it is!

It’s business time!

Well, at least Business card time!  For years, Dana and I have tried to go thru the 2000 or so business cards with our old design on them.  I won’t even post the old ones here, I’m not very happy with them anymore.  At the time, we liked them, and they matched the site I designed, but, looking back… wow, were they kinda cheezy!  Anyways, about 6 or 7 months ago, Dana had a great idea for some new branding, sketched something out, and I used my mad design skills (not really so mad, I’m still learning the design side) to come up with our new look.  We took a little while to narrow down exactly how we wanted the card to look, and today, our printer, Advanced Color Graphics, left them on our porch.  Take a look, and let us know what ya think!

Looks like we’ve had some good response to our Crazy Summer special!  What?  You haven’t seen it yet?  Make sure to scroll down, or click here, and give us a call!  We are booking up quickly, and this special is only good thru the month of August!

I really can’t believe how quickly this blog is growing.  I checked the stats on it this morning, and we’ve had over 500 visitors, from 17 different countries in the past couple months, at least since I started to keep track.  Just crazy!

Hey guys- Dana here!

Today is a very special person’s birthday and we just wanted to wish a Happy Birthday to Bonnie! She is 84. Here is a photo I took at Jake’s in Del Mar where I attended a birthday lunch with Bonnie and her daughter,Susie. I met Bonnie when I was 2 years old. She babysat me and my sister.  I’ve known her almost 32 years. She is like a grandmother to me, and my friend forever.

Happy 84th Birthday Bonnie!  Mmmm Hula Pie!

Anything else babe? I think that’s it for this week’s blog. Hope you all keep reading and don’t forget to leave us a comment and share the love.

Chris, Melly & Amy Orange County Family Photography

On Saturday we met up with Chris, Melly & Amy and Rockie (the dog). We took there family pictures in downtown Orange. We started at the circle and snapped a few, blew bubbles and talked about the soap that was in the fountain. We moved on to a store front called Two Little Monkeys where Amy posed in front of the display window with flowers. Finally, we ended up by Chapman University by then Amy just wanted to run around, so we called it a shoot! To end the evening we grabbed some dinner at Papa Hassan’s with our new friends. We really enjoyed spending this time with Chris, Melly & Amy and the photo’s show it.

Melly & Amy thanked me with the following comments on my Facebook wall: Thanks for taking our family pics!! We had so much fun! Amy said on our way to Pinkberry,”Dat Dana is a funny giiieeerrlll, she’s my friend!” 😀 ha ha

That is why I love taking pictures…absolutely rewarding!

Weekly Wednesday Blog-OC Fair edition!

Welcome back!

We had a record number of people hitting the blog, and leaving comments last week!  We knew that some Vegas action would draw the crowds.  Thanks for all that, the more people that show us some love, the better, and the more we want to keep this thing going!

We’ve had a crazy busy weekend!

One birthday party, two photo shoots, and a trip to the fair.  We are still working on the pics from the photo shoots, so check back over the next few days to take a look.  We are both pretty happy with them, and think you will like them too.

Oh, and we had a bit of an earthquake today.  I guess it ended up around a 5.4… not too bad.  Being the California Native, I can’t get excited until they hit at least 6.0! 🙂  It just sorta shaked, and rolled a bit.  No huge damage around Casa de Sipper.  It seemed the biggest casualty was my Garrett Anderson Bobblehead.  Somehow I’ve managed to collect 6 or 7 Angels Bobbbleheards over the years, and poor GA was on the ground, decapitated.  I twisted his head back on, and he’s almost good as new!

This weekend coming up looks to be pretty busy as well, with my sister, and her husband driving down from the Bay area, another possible photo shoot, and the Long Beach Crawfish Festival with my cousin and his wife on Sunday!  Gotta sneak a bike ride in there somewhere.  Time to finally get back into shape! 🙂

That’s all I’ve got for now.  Be on the lookout for new photo shoot blogs in the next couple days, and a special announcement about a really great deal if you are in need of a couples or family shoot during the month of August.  You definitely do not want to miss this!

Here are some of the pics from the fair!  Hope you enjoy!  Please pass the links on to friends of yours! 🙂

The best part about going to the fair is watching all the people.  I swear, it is worth the price of admission!

Weekly Wednesday Blog Post-Vegas Edition!

Hey kids!

Dana and I just got back from Vega$ after a nice 3 day weekend spent celebrating our friend, Kylee’s birthday.  Had a great time, ate some phenomenal food, had a few cocktails, and after reading a bunch of reviews on sites like www.boomtownbingo.com/cheeky-bingo-review/, we did a little gambling.  Unfortunately neither Dana or I hit it big, so it’s back to the grind for another week!

The weather was strange in Vegas this time.  Hot on Saturday, overcast, and raining a bit on Sunday.  Of course, it had to rain on Sunday, that was the day we had designated for hanging out at the pool at the Paris Hotel.  Oh well, it was still a good time!

Oh yeah, on the way back, we narrowly avoided being hit in the face with a tire, errr, actually a whole wheel, as the Ford Excursion in front of us on the drive home lost it’s wheel, and it bounced in and out of the lane a few times, before flying over the divider.  It was pretty crazy!  There were sparks flying from the brake rotor scraping along the ground, and pieces of the axle cap flying towards our car.  If it weren’t for Dana’s ninja like reflexes, we woulda been smashed up pretty good!

So, fo now, it’s back to the daily routine.  Going to try and get some running in this week, along with a bike ride this weekend, in between hanging out at our friend’s one year old’s birthday party on Saturday.  I think I’ve decided to ride in this year’s MS-150 Bike Ride from Irvine down to San Diego.  I just need to sign up, and start raising the $450.  Be on the lookout for more info on this, and possibly a way to own one of our fine art pics, and help out a great charity at the same time! 🙂

Ok… now onto the reason all 4 of you show up every week… There is only 4 of you right?  If you swing by, and see something that jumps out at ya, feel free to leave a comment.  We won’t bite.  Really!  So here are this weeks pics.  Have a few from Vegas, and a couple from beautiful, scenic, metropolitan, Baker, CA.  The gateway to Death Valley, and home to the world’s tallest thermometer!
