Friday lunch with the girls!

A few weeks ago my friend Suz Broughton invited me to lunch with a few girls who are fellow bloggers in the Orange County area. We had a great lunch at the Filling Station in Orange.   Suzanne & I both splurged on the Filling Station special which is a burger with bacon, avocado, chedder, swiss, lettuce, tomato and onion. We both ordered it with “no yucky onions” said Suz and well if you are gonna order the burger you have to have the fries to go with it too.

We all had such a fabulous time that we decided to have lunch again today, so we made our way to the Irvine Spectrum where we met at the California Pizza Kitchen. Today we behaved and had salads no burgers! Some of the same girls came Suz, Marcy, and Julie, we missed Elaina she couldn’t make it this time, but we’ll see her again. Our new girls were Rochelle and  Kristin who makes fabulous cupcakes, she brought us each one…thanks again Kristin, I saved mine to share with the hubby!

So, today I was in good company thanks to all my new friends! Here is a shot I took at the end with my mad point & shoot Skills! Marcy is the fabulous red head who is laughing because I don’t think she believed I could get us all in, but I did it. Will have to get a group shot of everyone next time!

Have a great weekend…J+D

The Happiest Place on Earth…

On Thursday night, Jeff surprised and said he made plans for us to go to Disneyland on Saturday. I was having a bit of a down day, so he thought he would cheer me up…what a nice guy. We have been working a lot lately, so it was nice to just have fun! We didn’t get out there until about two o’clock and stayed until around nine…at that point my feet hurt and we were both exhausted. How did we do it as a kid? I guess the real question is how did our parents do it when we asked them to get us there when it opened and stay until it closed! Pure torture I say for our folks, they must of really loved us!

We had a fabulous day, rides, food & photos…who could ask for more!

Friday Happy Hour Shot!

Well we made it…Friday is winding down and our exciting weekends are about to come upon us! Anybody have anything fun planned? The hubby surprised me last night and said he is taking me to Disneyland tomorrow, thought he would plan something fun for us to do! I felt like a little kid about to go on  Spring Break and we are going to Disney…ahhh my childhood memories are rushing back!

A little shot for you that I took last weekend at The Grove at the L.A Farmer’s Market, since we are approaching Happy Hour. I love the sign & lights at night, such a great mood!

Have a great weekend!

A little boudoir style by J+D! Orange County Boudoir Photography

Valentine’s just passed us by, but the Sipper’s made the best of it!  Here we have a boudoir session that we recently shot. Kirsten called me several weeks ago and wanted to do a little bit of the sexy & romance for her husband. The hopeless romantic that I am said sure, I would love to do a little something different, this would be a chance to really show some passion in our photography. We had a fabulous session, Kirsten looked HOT thanks to Hair by Kylee, who did both her hair & make-up for the shoot. The images were filled with so many moods….a little romance, love, drama, intrigue, and just plain fun!

We hope to get into a few more of these portrait sessions, they really make you feel creative as an artist…and as the client you feel like a model! It is a win win situation!

We thank Kirsten for being such a great model and Kylee for making her look FABULOUS! Enjoy the images and don’t forget to leave us some love…J+D

Happy Birthday Max!

Happy Monday to everyone…it is a special Monday for us! Today is our dog Max’s birthday, he is 5 years old today! I don’t know if you all know the story of how we got Max…well a while back Jeff & I decided we wanted a dog. I guess we were gonna try a dog before kids or something like that! Anyway, we started to visit the local Pound here in Orange and on one day in October of 2004 we met Max. Jeff & I decided on a small dog since we live in a townhome with no yard…this was our second trip and we didn’t see a dog that connected with us, so we were on our way out. Just as we were leaving the gates and there was Max and his sister, a wiener dog  who were both going to be given up for adoption. The lady asked the two of us if we were looking for a dog, both of us said “Yes”! Jeff immediately knelt down and took to Max right away! Max’s previous owner had an ill mother in Europe and was going to have to take off for several months to care for her, she had no one who could take two dogs, so was going to give them up.  I thought the weiner dog was a good size, but Jeff really liked Max! He was happy, scruffy and just plain cute. We decided that Max was our dog, so the lady just handed us his leash,  she said he was fixed, had his shots and stuff and she would mail us all the paperwork. How lucky is that?

Jeff, me & Max walked back to the car, so excited to go home! We just loved our dog right from the start and he is still the best! He has such an easy-going personality, sleeps in with me, cuddles on the couch, just a great dog!

Here is a photo of him after his grooming on Friday…because everyone has to look good for their birthday! Max thanks his grammy, she got him his new look!

Kylee + Franjo = Vegas Style. Orange County Wedding Photographer

It has been a very crazy week or so filled with many spectacular moments. Though we have been incredibly busy, we are having so much fun! Last weekend Jeff rode in the Tour de Palm Springs, I had to get up early on Valentine’s Day, but it was worth it to support my hubby as he took off on a 65 mile bike ride around Palm Springs. As Jeff left on his ride I snapped a few photos, then shouted that “I loved him”, later he told me that he got choked up a bit when he heard me. Ahhh, a little romance for Valentine’s Day!

After the trip to Palm Springs, we headed back on the road to Vegas for the WPPI (Wedding Portrait Photographers International) convention which was an amazing experience for us! We met up with several other photographers for some networking, attended a few parties for photographers, walked the floor at the trade show and looked at all the exciting things being offered in our industry. We truly are a part of something great in the photography industry and we both feel so honored to do what we do!

The highlight of our trip was our couple shoot we did of Kylee & Franjo. The two recently were engaged this past December and will be getting married November 14th. Both of them were so excited about there engagement photos, over dinner one night Franjo mentioned to Kylee that he wanted to do some sort of James Bond or Monte Carlo theme. We were stoked to hear this and what better place to make it happen then Vegas baby! Word got out of our shoot and we were approached by Kerry Garrison and David Esquire of CameraDojo to shoot some video of Jeff & I shooting our session. This was going to be an exciting shoot!

We met up with the couple, at the Paris Hotel and then took the show over to the Bellagio. The two looked AMAZING!!! Franjo in his white tux jacket  & Kylee with a long flowing chocolate brown Calvin Klein gown. We were so excited to have such a fabulous looking couple who were ready to have fun and rock it Vegas Style!

We had such a great time! Congratulation to Kylee & Franjo… and a special thanks to Kerry & David for the great video coverage!

P.J.’s Abbey Downtown Orange, CA

Yesterday was my birthday so I spent most of the day doing things for me. I started with a haircut & color because every birthday needs a new do! I have spoke about Hair by Kylee before, she works at the W Salon in Laguna Hills, so if anyone needs a new hairstylist, she is the one. You can reach her at 949.433.1279. As I left for my appointment, I decided to grab the camera and promised myself to just take a photo today, not for work, just for pure art & pleasure.

Later I met up with my mother-in-law Bev for my birthday lunch at P.J.’s Abbey restaurant in downtown Orange. We had both been there before, in the old Victorian style church such a beautiful setting for a restaurant. The food was great and as we sat and ate, my eye wandered at all beauty of the wood furnishings & stained glass windows, so here is where I would take my photo of the day…a birthday present to myself! As the place cleared out from the lunch crowd my photo opt was perfect. As I was shooting one of the owner’s came out and greeted me, he was the nicest man and told me some history of the stained glass windows. They were dedicated on an Easter Sunday mass in the late 1800’s and they were just beautiful. Here are a few of the shots I graced my birthday with, may you find some artistic passion in them as I have. Thank you Bev, for a lovely lunch and suggesting such an amazing place and to PJ’s Abbey.

Cindy & Greg…Just Because

Well we made it to hump day…Wednesday is here and we are half way through the week. Just wanted to share with you a fabulous couple Cindy & Greg (and they aren’t just fab because Cindy is my sister, they are cute together)! On our last trip to Chandler, AZ to visit the family we shot these photos of the two Just Because! We shot these in one of our favorite Downtown areas, I absolutely love the urban portrait look and love the couple. It is important for us to let our couples do what they want in the session, ultimately we want you to just have fun and be relaxed!

Thanks Cindy & Greg for letting us share the afternoon with you.

We hope you all enjoy these awesome photos of Cindy & Greg and don’t forget to leave us some love by commenting. Have a great rest of your week! J+D
