We remember 9|11…Photos of New York City

Today marks 10 years since the 9|11 tragedy.  Over the past several days there have been documentaries on TV and memorial tributes to 9|11.  We went to the Angels vs Yankees game on Friday evening and they rolled out the American Flag on the field as a tribute to America.  There are so many stories from those on that day.  I am sure many of you looked back and thought about where you were on that day the planes struck the World Trade Center towers.  Most of us on the west coast woke up to the tragic news.  Our alarm clock went off that morning to the news on the radio.  We were in shock to hear the 1st tower had been struck and immediately stood up in bed and turned on the TV to see the news. We have taken a moment to remember that day, it was tragic.  I teared up today as I watched the coverage in New York City as they launched the Memorial Fountains at Ground Zero.  Many lives were lost and peoples lives were changed forever.

It is hard to believe that someone would want to cause so much pain to a country and its people.  We will never forget what happened on September 11, 2001 but we will live our lives and hopefully cherish each day that we are given.  I know I do.   I can’t even imagine being near those buildings when they collapsed.  I can relate though to the loss of a loved one.  Though time goes by, we live on but never forget them.  It is hard to understand why things happen, but we must stand together and be thankful for each day we are given.

Most of you know how much Jeff and I love to travel!  Recently, we had a brief visit to New York City. Today I wanted to share some shots from our trip to New York City this summer as a tribute to the city.  Though the city suffered at one time, it is still a beautiful place.  We only drove by Ground Zero as it was and still is under construction with glass boundaries at every corner, but explored many other places in Manhattan.
To all of those that lost their lives September 11, 2001 we remember you!  Thank you to all of those who served on that day and since then.  We will never forget what you did for us.

Another view of New York City and its skyscrapers.  This shot was taken from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building.  In the distance to the right you can see the Statue of Liberty.  Just to the left of the Hudson from there you can see the construction of the new tower at Ground Zero.

Holiday Portrait Special | Orange County Family Photographer

Well here it is folks the 2011 Holiday Portrait Special by Sipper Photography!  Celebrate your family this holiday season by scheduling a family portrait with us.  Photos make a great gift for your loved ones and the best part is you won’t have to go to the mall for this one!  (The guys will love this) You can also use your favorite photo from the session for a holiday card this year.

Our style is very different which makes this a unique gift and memory for your family.  We specialize in an environmental portrait.  What is that you ask?  Well, here is how it works.  You pick the location, this should be something fun.  The beach, park, your local downtown, urban area or your own home.  All are great locations.  It can also be a special family spot… don’t be afraid to think outside of the box.  You can wear holiday clothing colors (even fancy holiday sweaters if you choose) or just something nice if you haven’t had a portrait together in a while.

Remember it doesn’t have to just be families, you can do a holiday session even if it is just the two of you or to celebrate an engagement!  Also, if you want to give a gift of a portrait to someone, we offer gift certificates for Family, Boudoir, Maternity and Newborn sessions.  Weekends are available, but always fill up fast, so schedule today!

San Diego Newborn and Family Photographer | Baby Brady

Hi all!  Hope you had a great Labor Day holiday weekend.  We sure did.  It is amazing how much stuff you can pack into one weekend.  My sister Gloria and her boyfriend Jeremiah were visiting from Arizona.  On Saturday we watched the Penn State Football game at the OC Sports Grill because Sister G and I had to represent with our fellow PSU Alumni. We then did a little beer tasting at the Old Orange Brewing Company in Orange and continued on to a BBQ with friends. We finished off Saturday night with a little jazz music at the OC Great Park where the Preservation Hall Jazz Band was playing a concert.  We had seen them before in New Orleans.  I can’t get enough of a little “Bourbon Street Parade”!  I love that song!  On Sunday, we headed down to Balboa and walked around the pier and the fun zone.  It was another great day!

Hmmm…I just realized why I was so tired yesterday and just relaxed! It was a great weekend, but went by so fast.  I know it is always hard to get back in to the swing of things after a long weekend, but here we are!

So speaking of visiting with family.  We recently spent some time in San Diego with Jeff’s cousin Paul, his wife Polly and their daughter Ellie.  They have a new addition to their family and we were excited to meet him and take his newborn photos.  We just received his birth announcement in the mail and it turned out great, thanks guys!  Congratulations to all of you and today, Meet Brady Thomas!

Woodbury Irvine Wedding Photography | Brandon+Kristen=Married

Today we have some amazing moments from Brandon and Kristen’s wedding to share.  It was a gorgeous day to photograph a wedding at the Woodbury Community in Irvine, California.  We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this couple and were so honored to share their wedding day with them.  A big congratulations to you both!  We wish you many happy years together sharing your love.

This fabulous day started at the Woodbury Clubhouse for some pre-ceremony shots of our bride, Kristen getting ready.  Then we headed off to the Great Lawn at Woodbury for their wedding ceremony.  When I first saw the Great Lawn it gave me this grandiose feeling as it was so vast and beautiful.  Such a “GREAT” spot to say I-do!   After moments with the couple during their ceremony and photos with their family and wedding party we headed over to the Courtyard at the Club in Woodbury where the cocktail hour and wedding reception were held.  This was such a great location for a wedding as you had so many different options for your celebration that were all close by. It was a great party, we even stayed a little late to share in the celebration by having a few drinks with the couple and doing a little dancing.  Anyone who knows me, knows I love to dance!

Here they are Brandon and Kristen… Cheers+Love, J+D

Chapman University Campus Chapel | Orange County Wedding and Event Venue

Chapman University Chapel, Orange, CA

Wallace All Faiths Chapel at Chapman University

Are you looking for a unique Orange County Wedding Venue for your upcoming wedding?  Well, I have a great little hidden spot in Orange that would make a great venue for your wedding in Orange County.  I recently had a tour of the Wallace All Faith Chapel at Chapman University and I was amazed at how beautiful this spot is. I guess to most it is a secret spot unless you have attended Chapman or maybe live in the Orange area.

As I walked through the campus, it brought back memories of my college days and how I have always loved the campus look.  A university campus is filled with great architecture, lawn areas and facades.  These make fabulous locations for your wedding ceremony, reception and photos.   You just can’t go wrong!

Not only do they have this beautiful Chapel location for your wedding, but several other options on the campus such as courtyards and lawn areas that would make a perfect spot for your wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Oh and don’t forget the photo op’s, they are everywhere!

Laguna Beach Engagement | Greg+Mary=Engaged

As I promised, more photos from Greg and Mary’s fashion style engagement session that was shot in downtown Laguna Beach.  This was a unique shoot as we mixed the celebration of their engagement with a little fashion shoot.  I couldn’t help myself as I got so excited when Mary started showing me their outfits.  We had so much fun and found some great spots for these two to strut their stuff.  I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED working with them both. I may have mentioned this in their sneak-peek post, but I had to ask them if either one of them ever did any modeling for photo shoots because they both were rockin’ it!  The two never did do any modeling, but their look and love made such a great combo for this engagement shoot.

A big congratulations to you both!!!!  You guys make a fabulous couple.  Enjoy the moments.  Cheers, J+D

 Loved Greg’s Seersucker Jacket look!

So glad to catch Mary blowing a kiss to Greg…such a fun moment!

A Little Fashion Style Engagement Shoot | Greg+Mary= Sneak-Peek

This past Friday I had a fabulous engagement session with Greg and Mary. It was an early morning in Laguna Beach and the weather was perfect, plus I had the cutest couple to work with.  This shoot was so much fun as it was full of style and love on both of our parts.  I could of sworn these two were models.  I even asked them during the session!  I couldn’t wait to get home and download the images as I knew there were going to be some great shots.  As I was editing the other day, I thought to myself I would love to do some more fashion photography.  I mean these photos should be in magazines!  I am intrigued, inspired and can’t wait to do more.  I think it is time that Sipper Photography heads into the fashion photography world.  Are you intrigued?  Well, here is a little sneak-peek from the shoot.  Let me know what you think!  More fashion to come…wait to you see the others.

Sportsmen’s Lodge Studio City Wedding | Martoinne+Rhea=Married

Well, this post is a little behind as we also traveled back East to Pennsylvania in June to shoot a wedding.  The last two weeks we have been playing some catch up, but are so excited to share with you photos from Martoinne and Rhea’s wedding that took place on June 5, 2011 at the Sportmen’s Lodge in Studio City, CA.  We had a wonderful couple and a fabulous venue, so the photo opportunities were great.  The Sportsmen’s Lodge has a beautiful garden ceremony location and this is where the two said their I-do’s.  When we met Marty and Rhea at our initial consult we instantly clicked with them and it made for a great capture on their day.  Rhea really liked the fact that we were a married photography couple and I think that shines through here.

The two met at church where two of Martoinne’s cousins introduced them.  After being a couple for 2 years, he proposed to Rhea at the Manhattan Beach Pier and she said Yes!!!!  These two are a young couple that knew they wanted to be together forever!  We could totally see this love as I teared up on a few occasions during their ceremony.  It all started with Marty singing to Rhea as she walked down the aisle, such a priceless moment.  He also sang part of his vows to her.  How Romantic?????

A Grand Entrance for the bride as her father waits to walk her down the aisle!

A surprised Rhea as Marty sings to his bride as she walks down the aisle!  He sang “So High” by John Legend

A traditional Jumping of the Broom was done by this couple!

Congratulations Martoinne and Rhea!  Best Wishes for a long and happy marriage, it was a pleasure working with you both!  Now let’s dance!
