Weekly Wednesday-ahhh yeah, you know what time it is!

It’s business time!

Well, at least Business card time!  For years, Dana and I have tried to go thru the 2000 or so business cards with our old design on them.  I won’t even post the old ones here, I’m not very happy with them anymore.  At the time, we liked them, and they matched the site I designed, but, looking back… wow, were they kinda cheezy!  Anyways, about 6 or 7 months ago, Dana had a great idea for some new branding, sketched something out, and I used my mad design skills (not really so mad, I’m still learning the design side) to come up with our new look.  We took a little while to narrow down exactly how we wanted the card to look, and today, our printer, Advanced Color Graphics, left them on our porch.  Take a look, and let us know what ya think!

Looks like we’ve had some good response to our Crazy Summer special!  What?  You haven’t seen it yet?  Make sure to scroll down, or click here, and give us a call!  We are booking up quickly, and this special is only good thru the month of August!

I really can’t believe how quickly this blog is growing.  I checked the stats on it this morning, and we’ve had over 500 visitors, from 17 different countries in the past couple months, at least since I started to keep track.  Just crazy!

Hey guys- Dana here!

Today is a very special person’s birthday and we just wanted to wish a Happy Birthday to Bonnie! She is 84. Here is a photo I took at Jake’s in Del Mar where I attended a birthday lunch with Bonnie and her daughter,Susie. I met Bonnie when I was 2 years old. She babysat me and my sister.  I’ve known her almost 32 years. She is like a grandmother to me, and my friend forever.

Happy 84th Birthday Bonnie!  Mmmm Hula Pie!

Anything else babe? I think that’s it for this week’s blog. Hope you all keep reading and don’t forget to leave us a comment and share the love.

Franjo, Kylee & Kaitlyn

Happy Monday to all…

We are just loving the blog thing. It motivates you to shoot as much as possible, so you can keep blogging. I love taking photo’s, photography really is our passion. I am so lucky that I get to share this passion with my hubby. When we were both in school for photography, neither one of us ever dated other artists or thought we would end up marrying another photographer.  We wouldn’t ask for it any other way because we both understand what it means to people to have there photo’s of family & friends and the events in there lives.

We love to shoot the bonds between people in beautiful locations. Lately, we have found ourselves in Downtown Orange, it is close by and this one location has a vast amount of possibilities.  This weeks session is a little more of Downtown Orange, Urban style. We had a great couple, Franjo & Kylee. Also, Kaitlyn who is Franjo’s 10 year old daughter who is gorgeous. Watch out dad because she will be a heart breaker.

Thanks guys for sharing your afternoon with us.  All of you photographed great! By the way, if you like Kylee and Kaitlyn’s hair, Kylee is a hairstylist at The W Salon in Laguna Hills, CA. You can reach her at 949-433-1279 for an appointment. She does my hair as well and I absolutely love it!

Enjoy and please let us know what you think by leaving us a comment.

Have a great week!

Chris, Melly & Amy

On Saturday we met up with Chris, Melly & Amy and Rockie (the dog). We took there family pictures in downtown Orange. We started at the circle and snapped a few, blew bubbles and talked about the soap that was in the fountain. We moved on to a store front called Two Little Monkeys where Amy posed in front of the display window with flowers. Finally, we ended up by Chapman University by then Amy just wanted to run around, so we called it a shoot! To end the evening we grabbed some dinner at Papa Hassan’s with our new friends. We really enjoyed spending this time with Chris, Melly & Amy and the photo’s show it.

Melly & Amy thanked me with the following comments on my Facebook wall: Thanks for taking our family pics!! We had so much fun! Amy said on our way to Pinkberry,”Dat Dana is a funny giiieeerrlll, she’s my friend!” :D ha ha

That is why I love taking pictures…absolutely rewarding!

Enjoy-

Weekly Wednesday Blog-OC Fair edition!

Welcome back!

We had a record number of people hitting the blog, and leaving comments last week!  We knew that some Vegas action would draw the crowds.  Thanks for all that, the more people that show us some love, the better, and the more we want to keep this thing going!

-

We’ve had a crazy busy weekend!

One birthday party, two photo shoots, and a trip to the fair.  We are still working on the pics from the photo shoots, so check back over the next few days to take a look.  We are both pretty happy with them, and think you will like them too.

-

Oh, and we had a bit of an earthquake today.  I guess it ended up around a 5.4… not too bad.  Being the California Native, I can’t get excited until they hit at least 6.0! :-)  It just sorta shaked, and rolled a bit.  No huge damage around Casa de Sipper.  It seemed the biggest casualty was my Garrett Anderson Bobblehead.  Somehow I’ve managed to collect 6 or 7 Angels Bobbbleheards over the years, and poor GA was on the ground, decapitated.  I twisted his head back on, and he’s almost good as new!

-

This weekend coming up looks to be pretty busy as well, with my sister, and her husband driving down from the Bay area, another possible photo shoot, and the Long Beach Crawfish Festival with my cousin and his wife on Sunday!  Gotta sneak a bike ride in there somewhere.  Time to finally get back into shape! :-)

-

That’s all I’ve got for now.  Be on the lookout for new photo shoot blogs in the next couple days, and a special announcement about a really great deal if you are in need of a couples or family shoot during the month of August.  You definitely do not want to miss this!

Here are some of the pics from the fair!  Hope you enjoy!  Please pass the links on to friends of yours! :-)

Taiko Project.  Great Japanese Drumming group.  Check their page out here!

The best part about going to the fair is watching all the people.  I swear, it is worth the price of admission!

One of the best sunsets I’ve seen in a long time!

Weekly Wednesday Blog Post-Vegas Edition!

Hey kids!

Dana and I just got back from Vega$ after a nice 3 day weekend spent celebrating our friend, Kylee’s birthday.  Had a great time, ate some phenomenal food, had a few cocktails, and did a little gambling.  Unfortunately neither Dana or I hit it big, so it’s back to the grind for another week!

The weather was strange in Vegas this time.  Hot on Saturday, overcast, and raining a bit on Sunday.  Of course, it had to rain on Sunday, that was the day we had designated for hanging out at the pool at the Paris Hotel.  Oh well, it was still a good time!

-

Oh yeah, on the way back, we narrowly avoided being hit in the face with a tire, errr, actually a whole wheel, as the Ford Excursion in front of us on the drive home lost it’s wheel, and it bounced in and out of the lane a few times, before flying over the divider.  It was pretty crazy!  There were sparks flying from the brake rotor scraping along the ground, and pieces of the axle cap flying towards our car.  If it weren’t for Dana’s ninja like reflexes, we woulda been smashed up pretty good!

-

So, fo now, it’s back to the daily routine.  Going to try and get some running in this week, along with a bike ride this weekend, in between hanging out at our friend’s one year old’s birthday party on Saturday.  I think I’ve decided to ride in this year’s MS-150 Bike Ride from Irvine down to San Diego.  I just need to sign up, and start raising the $450.  Be on the lookout for more info on this, and possibly a way to own one of our fine art pics, and help out a great charity at the same time! :-)

-

Ok… now onto the reason all 4 of you show up every week… There is only 4 of you right?  If you swing by, and see something that jumps out at ya, feel free to leave a comment.  We won’t bite.  Really!  So here are this weeks pics.  Have a few from Vegas, and a couple from beautiful, scenic, metropolitan, Baker, CA.  The gateway to Death Valley, and home to the world’s tallest thermometer!

Weekly Wednesday!

Hey kids!

Welcome to another oh-so exciting Weekly Wednesday blog here at the Sipper Photography site!  Gotta love Wednesdays… it’s the middle of the week, the weekend is almost here, and plans are starting to come together!

This weekend, Dana and I are off to fabulous Las Vegas for a birthday weekend with our neighbors, Kylee and Franjo, for Kylee’s 25th birthday!  The weather looks like it’s going to be nice, about 100 degrees during the day, and a toasty 83 at night.  I’m normally not a huge Vegas guy (Dana likes it more than me) but I’m really looking forward to getting out of town!

-

Ya know what I really hate about Summer?  There is absolutely NOTHING on TV!  Nada!  Tuesday night’s exciting selection was “Celebrity Family Feud” or “I survived a Japanese game show”.  Ack!  Better off playing around on the computer!

-

Well, I hate summer, but I love July!  Come on, it’s Tour de France time!  What?  You aren’t watching it?  You are truly missing out.  It’s a good race this year, and any of the top guys could win it!  Right now, I’m pulling for Christian Vandevelde from the Garmin-Chipotle team to take it all!

-

We are working on the latest version of the Sipper Photo website, and if luck holds out, we’ll re-launch it around August 1st.  The basic framework is done, and it’s just a matter of tweaking some pictures, and getting everything squared away!

-

Here is this week’s picture… Dana shot this last week at Lucille’s BBQ with a few people she works with.  This was an extra shot from the PinkBerry shots from below!

Well that’s all for this week!  Hopefully we’ll shoot a few good pics in Vega$$$, and post them up next week!

See ya then!

Pink Melly!

Today we celebrated my friend Melly’s birthday, which is on Sunday, July 13th.  This girl loves “Beef” and “Pink Berry”, so we had Lucille’s BBQ for lunch and topped it off with some Pink Berry yogurt afterwards. The birthday theme was pink and Pink Melly was the star.

Here are some of the pics of us! Enjoy-Dana

Weekly Wednesday Blog

Hey kids!

Hope ya’ll had a great 3 day weekend (for those of you here in the US)!  Ours was pretty busy as Dana’s family came out from Arizona to visit, and we ran around a bit, BBQ’ed up at the pool, and generally relaxed.  How we managed to squeeze 7 people, plus my dog into our 2 bedroom condo is beyond me.  Of course, we had a Xmas party a couple of years ago, and I think there were about 22 people here!

We attempted to head out to Newport Beach on 4th of July, but even by noon, the road heading to the pier was jammed, and there was no parking to be had.  So we opted to head back to Costa Mesa to our favorite little bar, The Goat Hill Tavern. I’ve been here dozens of times, and ever time I go back, they’ve added more junk to the walls, the ceilings, where ever they can hang stuff.  It really does look like someone’s basement exploded with all the funkiness they have there.  The picture below should tell you all you need to know, and really, that’s not even a tenth of it!  But with 141 beers on tap, and Anaheim Angel baseball players that hang out thee after games it’s always a good time!

Went out for a bike ride Tuesday night.  Good to be back out there.  It was pretty breezy most of the way, but I managed to get in about 22 miles before dark!

No real plans for the weekend yet.  Dana’s Mom is here with us all week, and I think she flies home on Saturday.

That’s all I got for now.  Check back in next week, and be sure to tell all your friends about us!  And now on to some pics from last week, and us at the Goat…

Happy 4th of July!

Tonight we ventured out with our neighbors, Franjo & Kylee to see the fireworks here in Orange. Did I mention we rode our bikes down the festivities?  How smart are we… we saved money on gas, plus we didn’t have to sit in all the traffic after the grand finale. Jeff got out the trusty tripod and we shot several great pics of the fireworks.  We also shot a few of all us in attendance, including a self timed portrait of Jeff & I with our pals. We all had a great time, and it was a great celebration of America.  Our only complaint, with all the songs played as a tribute to America, there was no Neil Diamond’s ” We’re Coming to America”, well there is always next year. Here are our photo’s…Enjoy!

And Last but not least…please throw your gum away or wrap it in a tissue otherwise Jeff will sit in it!
