My 35th B-Day by Dana

Today I am celebrating my 35th birthday, Happy Birthday to me! I guess I am officially in my mid 30’s as of today. The hubby jokes with me that I am getting old and I sigh, but I know it is only in fun and out of love. He is just kidding with me, so I don’t really take it to heart. Besides, he is a month and a day older than me, so he will always be the older one!

Over the last month I have been looking back on my life all that I have accomplished and all that I look forward to. We hear it every day that time is flying by, and well, it is! We truly have to embrace every moment because life is a gift. I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people in my life. I love all of my family and friends and I try to let them know as often as I can how much they mean to me.

I want to send a big thank you to my mom for giving birth to me and making this day possible. Words can’t describe what this woman means to me. She has always been the anchor in our family and such a strong supporter in my life. When I wanted to move to California 10 years ago, she was sad, but let me go because she knew I had to find my way and follow my dreams. Until this day, she still supports me and loves me for all that am and all that I will be. Thanks mom for all you do, I love you very much!

As I chased those dreams more than 3,000 miles away from home, I was scared, but they led me to the most wonderful man in the world, my husband, Jeff. He has always been there for me, since the day we said our vows. I love him dearly. Today, tomorrow, and forever. I thank him for standing by me through it all and sharing this wonderful passion we have with our photography. We truly love what we do.  I feel it is a part of my soul and has been for many years.

This morning, I had this overwhelming feeling that my Dad was watching down on me with so much pride. As I turn another year older, I will continue to walk through life and take in every moment. I feel blessed every day to have love and passion in my life. I love what I do and I am so thankful that I have all of you to share it with.

As part of my birthday celebration, I had Jeff take a few photos of me, so I can always remember who I am today and how far I have come. From the smiles you will see how very happy I am.  I get that from my dad, he was always so happy go lucky. I am excited for the years to come, as all I can do from here is continue to grow, love, and just be ME!

Summer time and family! Orange County Family Photography

I love summer! The sky is bright blue, all the trees are green, the birds are chirping, people are out walking (including me and my friend Carol, we walked everyday last week) and it is a time to just have fun. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that sometimes we need to just take a break and take a splash in the pool with some friends and cocktails. Summer is a time to have bbq’s with your family and friends where you can just spend time with those you love!

I have fond memories of the summer with my family, my mom just packed us up and we would go. We spent many summers in Laguna Beach where we visited our dear friend Bonnie and played at the beach. Our Bonnie is like a grandmother to my sisters and I as well as a second mom to my mother. By the way, I want to wish Bonnie a Happy 85th Birthday…it was yesterday, and this special lady deserves many happy wishes! She has been a friend to my mom and family for over 30 years, we met her when I was only two. Wow does time fly by fast! I will always hold her love and friendship very dear to my heart as well as those days of fun in the sun in Laguna Beach.

Another summer memory of mine would be baseball games with my dad. We traveled all over to see the New York Yankees play ball and I remember by dad always being so happy with an MGD in his hand rooting for the Yanks! I miss him everyday and I still get choked up to this day when I visit a ball park. It is like he is always there with me.

This past weekend we visited with my Uncle Walter and my cousins Adrian and Miles. I got a chance to snap a few moments with the boys, so they would have some memories of this summer. Here are a few of the images I wanted to share. I hope you are all enjoying your summer with family and friends! Have fun and don’t forget the sunscreen! :-)

Family Love!

J+D started 10 years ago today!

Wow…10 years ago today, was one of the happiest days of my life because it was the day Jeff asked me to be his girlfriend! Since then we have been on this roller coaster of life together. A lot has happened in 10 years, we’ve lost jobs, got married, buried a parent, bought a town home, adopted a dog, traveled to some of our favorite places, shared many good glasses of wine and started a business together . The list goes on! We share this wonderful passion for our life together, family, friends & photography. Through it all we have sat in the same coaster car and held on to each other whether we were laughing, screaming or crying.

It all started as a girlfriend, fiance, and now wife + business partner and there is no one else in the world I would want to share this ride with.

Looking forward to many more happy years. I love ya Jeff…today, tomorrow and forever!

Cheers my love! -D

Tanya + Craig…Just Because!

The perfectionist in me, strikes again! Jeff and I are always coming up with new ideas to always strive for the next step. We feel it is important to keep growing in both our personal and business life, so we tend to bounce ideas off each other which usually start me saying, “Hey babe” and Jeff goes…”Yessssssss”! I am sure he is totally wondering what is she going to come up with now!!!

Recently, you may have noticed that we added a splash page to the intro of our site. If you haven’t seen it yet, please go to the website and check it out. You don’t want to miss it! We were so happy to add this because it really shows a “splash” of what we do! The images are some of our favorites, and we wanted to implement what we are about which is Simple + Modern + Casual and how we portray this in our photography.

With the fabulous flash design from Tanya Ahedo at Design Action Studios, our goal was accomplished. She took our vision and turned it into a reality! Tanya has a great personality, and is very easy to work with, so the Sipper’s clicked with her right away! Since then, we have had the opportunity to shoot Tanya. She wanted some photos for fun, so we met up with her and Craig, her fabulous fiance, and rocked it!  The two shared some amazing moments. We always encourage our clients to just have fun, and so they did. As Tanya quoted on all the fun “That is how we roll”!

I have to say…we just loved hanging out with them, as you will see in the following moments. Thanks again Tanya for your fabulous design!

Enjoy- J+D

Weekly Wednesday Tea!

This past Friday, I had a chance to catch up with my friend Adrienne, we met almost 15 years ago during our days at Penn State, where we were both chasing our passion for photography. It was nice to take time out of our busy schedules and meet up in Fullerton at the Tranquil Tea Lounge. I heard that it was opening, and thought it would be a great place for two old friends to meet and catch up on our busy lives. The Tranquil Tea lounge has a fabulous urban atmosphere with 85 tea selections to chose from served hot or cold! Great tea, food and vibe that you must check out!! Here are two images I snapped while we were there, because a girl never leaves home without her camera.

Samples of the teas to get an idea of what to order!

While we were there, I met a fellow photographer, Aaron Dieppa, who was taking some photos of the grand opening. We got to chatting about photography, lighting (because Adrienne is a former Lighting Designer) and how we met our significant others. You’ve gotta love just hanging out and chatting with great people, it was so nice to see my old friend and great to meet a new one too! Aaron was kind enough to snap this photo of Adrienne and I at the Tranquil Tea Lounge! It was great seeing Adrienne and catching up…love ya girl!

So the shooting continues…on Saturday we had a great shoot with Chad + Vivian near the train depot in San Juan Capistrano…great couple!  Stay tuned for their post in the next few days!

We have also been hitting the bridal shows this week looking for some fabulous 2009/2010 brides. If you want to check out J+D Bridal Show Style, stop by and see us this Sunday, June 14th at the Meadowlark Golf Club in Huntington Beach, CA from 10am-4pm! Would love to see you there! Here is a shot of our table from last week, so keep an eye out for us…

Tomorrow my mom, sister Gloria and her boyfriend Jeremiah are coming to visit for a few days from the AZ! I am so excited to see them…I just love my family & friends!!!! Well, that is it for now…we hope you have a great rest of the week! J+D

OC Blog Crush @ The Veggie Grill

Well as most of you know, we have really gotten into our blog this past year! We just love sharing our work with everyone and writing about all the fabulous people we meet at our sessions. I used to love to write poetry when I was younger, I had so much time to sit with my thoughts and reflect on life. It seems as adults we don’t take the time to just sit and relax with our thoughts and be inspired. All we do these days is make our way through the hustle and bustle of daily life and we forget to stop and take a moment to feel inspired. Most of our blogs are about our work, but this work inspires me, so I feel I can escape with my blogs and just think about these moments. Sometimes these moments are with people we just met, our friends, travels or just what is happening with us during the week (such as Jeff’s Weekly Rant’s…as I like to call them!) :-)

Anyways, my point is that we love to write our blogs whether they are for work or play! We keep writing because sometimes opening a link to a blog makes someone’s day! Recently, we have had the opportunity to meet up with some other bloggers in Orange County to talk about why we write our blogs and just make some new friends. It is fun to chat with others who are into blogging and why they do it. We have all of these social groups that we all get caught up in, but it is nice to go out and just talk to people.

Last week we went to the Veggie Grill at the Irvine Spectrum and sat on their patio and just talked to people. It was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet some new friends.

The Veggie Grill had some fabulous Salads & Sandwich’s. We had never eaten at a Vegetarian place before, but we’ll give it a go.  I always say try something once, and if you don’t like it, just don’t do it again! Jeff had the “Bean Me Up Chili”, he said he would order that again…I had a little taste and thought it was really good. I enjoyed the Bayou Chickin’ Sandwich…I thought of New Orleans when I ordered it…I just love the Cajun food. Surprisingly, I thought I was eating real chicken…it was delicious!

Our friend Suzanne and fellow blogger was there, and she had the Baja Fiesta Salad…it looked yummy…here it is!

Me + Suzanne…

Another friend and fellow blogger, Kristen of The Meringue Bake Shop was there with her Margarita cupcakes. It was the day after Cinco de Mayo, so we celebrated on Seis de Mayo with our delicious cupcakes. By the way, her red velvet cupcake is the “bomb” as well, so if you are looking for cupcakes for your next party or event you should check her out! Here is a shot of our fancy cupcake…all we need now is a Margarita, yum!

So it was an evening of Food, Cupcakes, New Friends and as always…a little photography! What can I say, these things make me happy. It was nice to meet all of you, even if we only got to chat briefly, hope to see you again soon.

Here are all of our blogs if anyone wants to read in their leisure…lots of good stuff going on!
